Tikau has been a pioneer in combining design thinking with aid and trade since it was founded in 2008, during which period it has been consulting also with design and textile companies. Tikau has actively shared its knowledge with policy makers and the public sector to make it easier to combine trade and aid in the future.

Design, beauty, sustainability and well-being of people and nature are the core of Tikaus philosophy. We stand behind our values in everything we do.

Case Billnäs Gård - Harmony and Joy

In the heart of Billnäs, Raasepori the beautiful mansion, Billnäs Gård, stands by the river of Mustionjoki. Founder of Tikau, Taina Snellman-Langenskiöld is also a creative director of Billnäs Gård, a hotel and event space that focuses on the well-being of both nature and people.

The Billnäs Gård project is about a house rescue project. The villa was originally in ancient condition and has been fully restored cooperation with the Finnish Museum Agency. Up to the garden, the villa has been extensively restored both inside and outside. The restoration has been done with exceptional purity, with the idea that the house will stand in place for at least another 100 years.

The design in Billnäs Gård is based on the idea of recycling and ecology. Vintage furniture have been carefully picked and restored to give the villa a unique look and feeling. The aim of the interior design is to use materials and furniture that age beautifully respecting the historical feeling of the house.

EXHIBITION CURATION

Case Habitare Design Fair - Ethical Area

Tikau curates yearly an ethical exhibition area and its program for Habitare, Finland’s largest interior decoration and design fair.

The area showcased companies and organizations that place the principles of design for sustainable development in the heart of their activities - bringing together actors and products that present ethical diversity through different examples.
